Why is teakwood better than other woods?

Teak is a naturally oily tropical hardwood that is able to withstand the rigors of any climate. Because of its oily nature it is impervious to water absorption as well as penetration by wood boring insects. For these reasons, it has been the wood of choice in boat construction/trim for centuries. Used in the construction of your outdoor furniture you can be assured that it will remain beautiful and serve you for decades. Teak will last in excess of 100 years even if left outdoors untreated and unprotected in our harsh Canadian climate.
